James F. Van Natta, M.D.
James F. Van Natta, M.D. is a U.C. Berkley and University of Southern California trained board certified anesthesiologist. He served as Chairman of the Anesthesiology department at the Hilo Medical Center and also held a part-time faculty position at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Van Natta is a U.S. Army veteran having served three years during peacetime as a Russian Linguist Interrogator. He has had a life long interest in nature conservation and completed a Master of Science degree in Ecology as well as an Internship at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA.
Malia Van Natta, RN, BSN
Originally from Hilo, Malia has over 20 years of nursing experience, starting as a nurse’s aide and working while pursuing her Bachelors of Science Degree. She held several positions at Hilo Medical Center including nurse manager of the Operating Room. Malia is the now the RN Practice Manager of Maui Pain Clinic and Kaloko Pain Center and makes every attempt to be available to answer questions and concerns. Currently a member of the American Academy of Pain Management.
Roberta “Robin” Tanner
Robin has lived mostly in Hawaii since 1979. She has a diverse career in nursing including critical care, chronic renal disease and acute dialysis, hyperbaric medicine, and emergency. She obtained a BSN at University of Washington in 1976, MSN in 2009 and Family Nurse Practitioner from University of Hawaii in 2011. She has been practicing as an FNP in primary care and pain management since then on Oahu, Lanai, Hawaii and Maui.
On a personal note, she grew up in Arizona and California, moving to Washington for college. She lived and sailed extensively in the South Pacific on her 38 ft sailboat until she became a landlubber and settled down to work on her career and life.
